Family History 

She was born in 1970 and American by birth. Her family faced lot of financial struggles during her childhood days. She completed her schooling in Alabama and pursued bachelor’s degree from AUM, Alabama.

Even though she is very popular, she always says that she doesn’t want the celebrity tag and prefers to live like a normal person. That’s the reason why she never shared anything about her family with media. There were rumors that she is dating Josh Hopkins and she didn’t comment on it. In one of the recent interviews, she revealed that she also wanted to get married and lead a happy life with her husband. But things didn’t go as planned and she is happy with her life now.

Career

Her movie journey started with the film The Long Walk Home for which she worked as an intern. She first appeared in the film A Time to Kill and from then onwards, she has been playing different roles in the movies. Some of the hit movies in which she acted include Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, Small Town Saturday Night, Seven Pounds, Get On Up etc. For the role of Minny Jackson in The Help, she received several awards including the prestigious Academy Award for best supporting actress.

She is a bit chubby in the initial days of her career and tried several weight loss methods to reduce weight. In 1998, she appeared on Television serial ER and played some small yet important roles in Follow the Stars Home, Malcolm in the Middle, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Lansky etc. She played important characters in Halfway Home, Raising the Bar, Mom, Red Band Society and in several other TV serials.

Apart from acting, she has very good writing skills also. Whenever she is free, she uses that time to write some stories. And with an aim to publish, she wrote her first book The Case of the Time-Capsule Bandit and it was received well by critics and readers. The adventurous story of first ninja detective is full of humor and suspense. She continued the adventures of detective Randi Rhodes in her second book, The Sweetest Heist in History which was released in 2015. In both these books; twists, sub plots and characterizations are simply superb. Children can also read these books as the shades of violence are very less.
