He was born in 1976 and native of Los Angeles, California. His father, Cuba Gooding Sr., is a talented singer. Cuba Gooding Sr.’s wife Shirley used to take care of Omar Gooding and his three brothers staying at home. His brother Cuba Gooding Jr. is an Academy Award winning actor and talented comedian. Starting from the childhood days, they were influenced by Hollywood movies and wanted to pursue their career in acting.

He had dated with Angell Conwell for few years. His friends and family members thought that they will get married soon but their relationship ended in 2006.  After break up, he had not tried to date any another woman and preferred to be single.
