Early Life and Education
Paget Valerie Brewster was born on March 10, 1969, in Concord, a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. She is the daughter of Galen and Hathaway Brewster and has one younger brother, Ivan. Raised in Massachusetts, Brewster later moved to New York City, where she briefly studied at the Parsons School of Design. However, she chose to pursue a career in acting, leaving college and relocating to San Francisco to take acting classes. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

Television Beginnings
Brewster first appeared on television as the host of a late-night talk show called The Paget Show, which aired for approximately 65 episodes. She gained wider recognition for her guest appearance on the hit sitcom Friends, portraying Kathy, the charming and quirky girlfriend of Joey, and later Chandler. Her role appeared across six episodes during the show's fourth season in 1997.
Early Roles and Guest Appearances
Following her appearance on Friends, Brewster took on a number of diverse roles. She starred in the short-lived series Andy Richter Controls the Universe in 2002 and portrayed a recurring character in Huff, a Showtime drama that premiered in 2004. She also appeared in the superhero satire film The Specials (2000), directed by James Gunn, playing Ms. Indestructible. In the 2006 film The Big Bad Swim, she played an attractive calculus teacher with a fear of water, demonstrating her range in independent cinema. In 2005, Brewster began voice acting in animated series such as Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law and American Dad!, showcasing her versatility and vocal talent.
Criminal Minds and Career Breakthrough
Brewster’s most prominent role came in 2006 when she joined the cast of CBS’s long-running crime series Criminal Minds. She portrayed Emily Prentiss, a multilingual FBI agent with a complex and intelligent persona. Brewster remained on the show until the end of Season 6, later making recurring and eventual regular appearances until the series finale. Her performance earned her widespread recognition and critical acclaim, solidifying her place on American television.
Continued Television Work and Voice Performances
Beyond Criminal Minds, Brewster appeared in several notable television programs.
