Tanner accompanied Noah to the MTV Video Music Awards along with her family: famous sister Miley Cyrus, sister Brandi, and parents Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus. It was Noah's first time in attendance at the awards. She was nominated for Best New Artist and also introduced the closing performance of "Swish Swish" by Katy Perry, who was otherwise hosting the event. The couple wore matching sweatshirts.

The couple got matching tattoos by famous celebrity tattoo artist JonBoy in June of 2018. JonBoy has also tattooed artists such as Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin, and Ashley Graham. The tatoo featured five stars, four of which are filled in, on Tanner and Noah's wrists. Pictures of the tattoos were shared on Instagram. Several other celebrities also have matching tattoos such as Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson.
