Background

Taral Hicks was born on September 21, 1974 in Queens, New York. She is the sister of famous singer, D'Atra Hicks.

Career

She started her movie career with a job alongside famous actor, Robert De Niro in the 1993 film "A Bronx Tale." Her ensuing film jobs were small guest roles including1995's “Just Cause” with Sean Connery and Laurence Fishburne, 1996's “Educating Matt Waters" and "The Preacher's Wife" with Whitney Houston. It wasn't until 1997 in the HBO feature film "Metro Stories" that groups of onlookers started to pay attention to her as a serious actress. As the “Woman with Flowers" who sang to her mom on the payphone, her performance was broadly praised and considered by many critics to be a standout amongst the best in the film.

In 1997, Hicks signed a deal with Motown Records and released a collection entitled "This Time." The single "Ooh, Ooh Baby," produced and composed by, and including Missy Elliott, charted on the Billboard R&B singles list.
