Tony Goldwyn is an accomplished actor and director, widely recognized for his role as Carl Bruner, the antagonist in the 1990 film Ghost. He further cemented his status in Hollywood through notable performances such as Colonel Bagley in The Last Samurai and by voicing the titular character in Disney's animated feature Tarzan (1999). His work in animation extended to video games, where he reprised the role of Tarzan in Kingdom Hearts and Tarzan Untamed.

Goldwyn gained renewed prominence for his portrayal of President Fitzgerald Grant III in the ABC political drama Scandal. Anthony Howard Goldwyn was born on May 20, 1960, in Los Angeles, California. He hails from a prominent entertainment family; his mother, Jennifer Howard, was an actress, and his father, Samuel Goldwyn Jr., a producer and the son of legendary film mogul Samuel Goldwyn.

Goldwyn attended Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, before transferring to Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He deepened his theatrical training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

He married Jane Musky, a production designer, in 1987. Together, they have two daughters and have maintained a longstanding marriage, balancing family life with busy entertainment careers.

Theatre Contributions

Tony Goldwyn has a strong presence in the theater world. He has performed at Second Stage Theatre and on Broadway at the Circle in the Square Theatre. In 2006, he starred in Theresa Rebeck’s play The Water’s Edge. He returned to Broadway in the 2010 revival of the musical Promises, Promises, alongside Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes.
