Vanessa had already started a business with her sister. Angela Simons. They were both designers, so they both decided to launch their own shoe brand called “Pastry”. The brand was a big hit because of the fan base that they build up on Run’s House. Due to the power of social media, the Simmons’ sisters had a lot of loyal and dedicated fans. When they asked their fans for support and advice, the fans gave them positive feedback and urged them to start their own brand.

Vanessa got into a loving relationship with her current boyfriend, Mike Wayans. Mike is the son of Damon Wayons, the famous actor and comedian. The couple have been dating for a long time and are enjoying a great steady relationship. One day, Vanessa announced that she was pregnant for the first time and that they were excited to wait for her their baby to be born. This would be the first grandchild in Vanessa's family, so there was eagerness to meet her and shower her with their love.
Before the birth of their baby, they were so concerned with choosing her name. Vanessa wanted to pick a meaningful name for her daughter, so it took them a while to settle on their baby's name which eventually turned out to be Ava Marie Jean.
Vanessa and Mike had a great baby shower at the Sugar Factory to celebrate Vanessa’s pregnancy. Little Ava's baby shower was jammed up with so many celebrities, the couple's parents, relatives and loved ones. Vanessa was seen looking very happy with her baby bump with Mike standing by her side. When the baby girl was born, she brought true happiness to the lives of her parents. When Vanessa first knew that she was pregnant, she was so nervous about telling her father. And when the cute little baby was conceived, the reason of her anxiety was validated, since her father, while being extremely happy with his granddaughter, still verbally wished that Vanessa and Mike were married before they had the baby because he is a very traditional and religious man.
The couple is extremely busy spending time with their daughter Ava Marie Jean, who was born on Valentine’s Day. Vanessa says that she did think about a wedding, but since she got pregnant she did not want to be a pregnant bride and feels that the marriage will eventually come and she’ll be ready for it.

Vanessa was always a beautiful woman, one little known fact aobut her is that she took part in the Miss California Beatty Pageant back in 2008.
Vanessa has contributed to many charities, some of which are "The Children's Miracle Network Hospital" and "The Reality of Fashion, the Reality of AIDS".
