The renowned actress Golden Brooks was born on December 1, 1970, in San Francisco, California. She is 46 years old, but for age is just a number. Her full name is Golden Ameda Brooks. When she was a child she showed great interest in sports. She used to compete as a figure skater and won a few times. She took classically dancing classes. She learned how to dance ballet, jazz, and modern dance. When she went to studies, she attended UC Berkeley. She has a major in Media Representation with Minorities and a minor in Theater. Career
When she started acting she was part of the Rodney Theater Company. On the small screens she was part of some series like The Adventure of Pete & Pete, Promised Land and The Jamie Foxx Show. In this last show, she plays the role of a girl named Nancy and Jamie confuses her with Fancy. From 1998 to 2000 she was a major part of Showtime’s comedy series Linc’s. She co-starred with Pam Grier. She appeared in movies like Timecode, Hell’s Kitchen and Impostor.
The most notable part of Golden Brook is as Maya Wilkes from the sitcom Girlfriends. She used to be Joan’s secretary. She did this show together with Persia White, Jill Marie Jones and Tracee Ellis Ross. She played this part for 8 years, since 2000 to 2008. In 2001 she even appeared as Maya Wilkes.
She was directly involved in the series, as she directed an episode in 2006 (Hustle & Dough) and wrote an episode in 2007 (Snap Back). In this episode appeared guest star Erykah Badu. Maya Wilkes, Brooks’ character is several years younger than her fellow characters: Joni,Toni and Lynn. The funny part is that in real life, Brooks is actually older than the other actresses.

In order to compensate her hard work on the show, Brooks received in 2004 BET’s Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She has also two nominations in 2003 and 2008 for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series
Golden Brooks won also a Black Reel Awards for the movie Motives (2004) where she plays along with Vivica A. Fox and Shemar Moore. She was also a part of Beauty Shop (2005) and Something New (2006).
In 2008 she received a role in a new TV series, Drop Dead Diva, as Kim Kaswell. She was later replaced by Kate Levering. In 2011 she got a part in the independent movie The Inheritance. In 2012 she became a cast member of Heart of Dixie as Ruby Jeffries (season 2). She is supposed to be Mayor Lavon Hayes’ high school sweet heart. She decides to announce her candidacy for the mayor job against Lavon. In 2014 she became part of a reality series, produced by TV One, called Hollywood Divas. She is one of the five divas that appear on this show.
In 2015 she got a recurring role in a comedy series Blunt Talk. Everybody is in love with her smile, so this could be the reason she is having all these comedy parts. She was also scheduled to appear in Lethal Weapons in 2016 but she was replaced.

At the end of 2008 Brooks got pregnant with her now-former boyfriend D.B. Wooside. She gave birth to a girl on September 1, 2009. After the birth of her daughter, she quickly regained her looks. She is supposed to have a net worth of $ 8million.
