Continued Work in Film and Television

In 2009, Brooks was cast in the pilot of the television series Drop Dead Diva as Kim Kaswell, but the role was eventually recast with Kate Levering. In 2011, she appeared in the independent film The Inheritance. She later joined season two of Hart of Dixie in 2012, playing Ruby Jeffries, the former high school sweetheart and political rival of Mayor Lavon Hayes.

Brooks expanded her television presence by joining the cast of the reality series Hollywood Divas in 2014. The TV One series followed the professional and personal lives of five African-American actresses in Hollywood. In 2015, Brooks had a recurring role in the Starz comedy Blunt Talk. Though slated to appear in the 2016 television series Lethal Weapon, she did not ultimately remain with the project.
