After being out in 2005, for Longhorn season when he was a redshirt, he was the start of the quarterback of 2006 Quarterback for the year 2006 Longhorn team. He was a starting quarterback of Longhorn team of 2005. In 2006, he was able to draw 27th touchdown pass while playing against Oklahoma state and he was able to take the sole possession for the Texas school record for having the highest number of the touchdowns that had even been thrown to the quarterback in one season.

According to his biography, Colt Mccoy was born in New Mexico, in the city of Hobbs. He was born as the eldest son in family of three children and his father is called Bard McCoy and the mother is Debra Kay. He went to Jim Ned High School in the State of Texas in the city of Tuscola. The coach in the school was his father and he was able to get enough distinction when he was a high school player and he was two times associated 2A offensive MVP and also a First-Team all State selection. He got drafted for a third round on 85th pick overall and he was to join Cleveland Browns of 2010 NFL Draft. He signed a contract of 4 years worth 5 million dollars.
