Early Life and Education

Ed Speleers, born John Edward Speleers, is a British actor and producer best known for his work in both film and television. He was born at St Richard’s Hospital in West Sussex, England. When he was three years old, his parents divorced. His mother, Gill, lives in Spain, while his father, John, a financial consultant, resides in London. He has two half-brothers.

Speleers attended Eastbourne College, where he nurtured his passion for acting. During his time there, he played a key role in school productions, including performances in classics such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Peter Pan, Richard III, Hamlet, and A Streetcar Named Desire. Alongside his friend Rob Curran, he co-wrote a school play titled Retribution, which addressed sensitive topics including child abuse.
