Born on 21 December in the year 1970, Jamie Nell Colby grew up in Forest Hills area of New York. She studied at the International School of Business in the University of Miami, when she was 14 years of age and completed her bachelor degree in business administration, when she was 22. She also received her Juris Doctor degree from the School of Law at the Miami University. She married Marc Wallack, who is a famous oncologist and also a marathoner. He is the chief of surgery at the Metropolitan Hospital in New York. They have a son and reside in New York City.

Profession

Colby was initially interested in becoming a lawyer only. A short stint as substitute anchor at a TV station made her think of a career in journalism which she proceeded to do along with her lawyer practice. She has worked as an anchor for WNYW-TV belonging to FOX situated in New York and also at the WebMD TV as correspondent and co-host. She also worked for a short period of time at WPIX TV. She later joined CBS as news reporter and anchor, and also did a short stint at CNN as news correspondent. She joined FOX News Channel in 2003.

Achievements

Colby has covered many major events during her career as reporter including the death of Pope John Paul II and the subsequent election of Pope Benedict XVI. She also covered the tsunami destruction in 2004 and the Martha Stewart trial and release from prison. Her other breaking news coverage include the investigation concerning the Columbia Space Shuttle, Hurricane Charley,  and the Kobe Bryant case. She also did an exclusive on the first children’s book by Madonna for FOX News Channel.

Awards

Jamie Colby was honored with the Edward R. Murrow National Award for reporting on the September 11 attacks in the year 2002. Her other awards include the Clarion Award given by the Association of Women in Communications, the Gracie Allen Award in 2002 for her investigative reporting, and the Rising News Star to Watch by Television Week.

Colby is also a former professor of law and a board member of American Women in Radio and Television. She is also a member of Law Review. She has co-authored a book with her husband named ‘Back to Life After a Heart Crisis: A Doctor and His Wife Share Their 8 Step Cardiac Comeback Plan’ after her husband suffered a severe cardiac attack in 2010.
