Margaret Hoover was born in 1977 and she is known for being an American political commentator, gay rights activist, feminist, media personality, author and political strategist. She has many roles in our life but they all revolve around her political beliefs and her activism work. She is a strong activist because she just doesn’t attend rallies to scream and shout. She makes more of an impact than the average activist because she expresses her ideas on large platforms. By getting her message out to a large audience, she is able to influence more people. She has the heart and soul of the average activist that would fearlessly put their lives and reputation on the line at rallies but she has the poise of a leader.
Margaret is the author of the book called American Individualism: How a New Generation of Conservatives Can Save The Republican Party. It was published in 2011 under a company called Crown Forum. Her party identification as a Republican and her advocacy for gay rights and feminism seem to be incompatible. Republicans are known to be ultra conservative in their beliefs. Not many republicans support the rights of gay people. Not many Republicans care to push for more womens’ rights. Margaret wants to bridge the disconnect that her political party has with the issues she wants to promote.
Margaret's work has been committed to relaunching the Republican party in order to help it connect with new generation of Americans who have Republican values. She advocates personal freedom that requires minimal interference from the government. One main reason she believes in the Republican party is because of her fiscal conservatism. She believes that people need to work hard for their own share instead of expecting a hand out from the group. She doesn’t believe in taking way from people who earned their share to to give out to the less fortunate. Margaret also subscribes to how Republicans deal with the US foreign policy.
A famous columnist named Jennifer Rubin has called Margaret an engaging personality who usually offer timely advice to the Republican party. Margaret’s message and her book had been praised for expanding the scope of what it means to be a Republican instead of dividing the party. Margaret's book has been a helpful guide for political issues and debates.
Early Life
Margaret Hoover was born in the state of Colorado, a state that has switched from being a blue and red state throughout the years. It has recently been a strong Democratic state but there are still large Republican supports in Colorado. Margaret is the daughter of Jean and Andrew Hoover. Her mother Jean worked as a flight attendant. Her father Andrew Hoover was employed as a mining engineer. Her parents raised her in a middle class upbringing. They both had jobs that brought in enough money to give Margaret a comfortable life. Without having to deal with the stress of finances, Margaret was free to develop her ideas on politics and the world.
Margaret’s entry into the political world was her destiny because she had someone in her family tree that was a famous political figure and leader. She is the great-granddaughter of the former President of the United States, Herbert Hoover. She doesn’t use her famous last name as a crutch. Even though she is related to a former president. She knows that a recognized name can only take her so far. She would rather be praised for her ideas and contributions instead of just her name. Margaret received her primary education at the Graland Country Day School in Denver, Colorado. When she moved on to higher learning, she majored and received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish Literature with a minor in Political Science.
