People Mentioned in This Biography

Her on air experience has not been without missteps. In 2016, she incorrectly claimed that there were term limits on members of Congress. Previously, during the 2015 Baltimore protests, she incorrectly attributed comments about the possibility of veterans causing the unrest. However, her Twitter and on-air apologies were later lauded by media critics. She has also responded graciously to her parodying by Saturday Night Live’s Cecily Strong.

Baldwin’s first one hour long documentary To Catch a Killer won the Silver World Medal for Best Investigative Report at the Festivals International Television and Film Awards 2012 in New York. She was also nominated for an Emmy for her coverage of the protests of Eric Garner’s death in 2014. Baldwin hosted a town hall on gun violence in 2015, earning her a spot as a finalist for a Peabody Award.

In 2015, Baldwin climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. She wrote an article about her journey for CNN after she returned. The article talks about her personal experiences, what she enjoyed on the trip, advice for mountain-climbing and how her guide made it possible.

During her time on CNN, she has attracted attention on several occasions for her handling of sexism and gender issues. She has in the past cut short an interview with Clay Travis over a sexist comment. Additionally, she has been critical about President Donald Trump. In her program “American Woman”, Baldwin interviews women who have led the way in campaigning for women’s rights.

Baldwin has hosted several speaking engagements. These include giving the May 2017 commencement address at her  alma-mater, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, speaking at the 7th annual Neighbor Celebration in Washington, D.C., and hosting Mother Nature Network’s White House Correspondents’ Jam at Hamilton Live, also in 2017. She has also given a commencement address to her college preparatory school West Minster Schools.

Baldwin has a few minor credits on IMDb, playing herself or an extra in several movies, including appearing briefly as a news anchor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
