Laura Vandervoort is a Canadian actress who was born on September 22, 1984, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She grew up with her Dutch father and Canadian mother and had contracted meningitis as a baby. The illness was so severe, her parents were told she would not survive. After several months of severe sickness, Vandervoort recovered. She even went on to play in multiple sports including football, Karate, basketball, tennis, gymnastics, and baseball. She got an early start to her acting career by taking classes as a child and by age 13 she landed roles in the Canadian television series "Road to Avonlea" and "Harriet the Spy". Her first speaking role would not come until she was cast in the children's horror series "Goosebumps" and "Are You Afraid of the Dark?". Vandervoort's career quickly took off and she appeared in several commercials and guest-starring roles in shows such as "The Dresden Files", "Doc", and "F.B.Eye". At age 19, Vandervoot attended York University where she majored in Psychology and English. Her biggest role would come when she was cast as Sadi Harrison on the CTV television series "Instant Star".
Vandervoort went on to make her film debut in 2006 alongside Jeff Daniels, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Isla Fisher in "The Lookout". She has also appeared in "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and the sequel film "Into the Blue 2: The Reef". Vandervoort was engaged to her co-star on "Instant Star" in 2010 but after several years. She went on to date Michael Rosenbaum in 2012 but the relationship did not last. Vandervoort has most recently dated Oliver Trevena and the pair are reportedly engaged.
