Early Life and Background

Brianne Sidonie Desaulniers was born on October 1, 1989, in Sacramento, California. Largely homeschooled, she was encouraged from a young age by her parents to pursue her interest in the performing arts. At just six years old, she became the youngest student ever admitted to the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, where she began studying drama. Her television debut came as a child in a sketch on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Career Development and Rise to Fame

Larson began her acting career in the late 1990s with a guest appearance on Touched by an Angel (1999). She gained more recognition through her role as the daughter of the main character in the television sitcom Raising Dad (2001–2002). In 2003, she starred as a teenage race car driver in the Disney Channel original movie Right on Track.

Her breakthrough in television came with the Showtime series United States of Tara (2009–2011), where she played Kate, the daughter in a family dealing with dissociative identity disorder. Around this time, she also took on supporting roles in notable films such as Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), Rampart (2011), and 21 Jump Street (2012).

Critical Acclaim and Awards

Larson received widespread acclaim for her performance as a mother held captive with her young son in the 2015 drama Room, based on Emma Donoghue’s novel. Her powerful portrayal earned her an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a BAFTA Award for Best Actress.

In the following years, Larson continued to build her filmography with a mix of action and drama roles. She co-starred with Mark Wahlberg in The Gambler (2014) and appeared opposite Amy Schumer in the hit comedy Trainwreck (2015).
