Jeffrey Dahmer is an American serial killer who was born on May 21, 1960, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the United States. He was born the first of two sons at the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee to his mother Joyce Annette and his father, Lionel Herbert Dahmer. He grew up collecting large insects such as dragonflies and butterflies which he kept in jars but he later graduated to collecting dead animals off the road and dismembering them at home. His fascination with dead animals is said to have begun as early as four-years-old. Dahmer went on to attend Revere High School but he immediately took to drinking and doing drugs. Dahmer discovered he was homosexual when he hit puberty but he did not disclose his sexual identity to anyone. He admitted having begun sexually fantasizing about dominating a submissive male partner. Dahmer admitted that his first attempt to attack a victim was when he was 16. He lay in wait in some bushes and waited for a male jogger to come by with a baseball bat but he never came. He abandoned the idea but went on to commit his first murder in 1978 at the age of 18, just three weeks after graduating high school.
He enlisted in the army in January of 1979 where he came a medical specialist. He was eventually diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, and a psychotic disorder. He was convicted of the rape, murder, and dismemberment of 17 boys, all from 1978 to 1991, but was convicted of 15 of the 16 murders he committed in Wisconsin. He was sentenced to 15 life sentences on February 15, 1992. Dahmer was beaten to death by a fellow inmate at the Columbia Correctional Institution on November 28, 1994.
