Years later, Timothy was again featured on various CBS films, including Three for the Road, a short-lived drama, Leave It to Beaver, and My Three Sons.

In 1976, Matheson took advantage of an opportunity to star in an NBC TV show called The Quest. In the series, which encompassed 15 episodes, Timothy starred with Kurt Russell, a renowned and well-respected actor. The storyline was about two young men searching for their sister's whereabouts in the American West because the sister was held captive. After some time away from acting, Matheson was again seen on screen. He had one of his most special rules when he co-starred alongside John Belushi in National Lampoon's Animal House. Other Ventures

Aside from acting, Matheson tried to put his entrepreneurial abilities into practice with Dan Grodnik when they purchased National Lampoon. However, it was rather unfortunate that Matheson and his business partner could not bring back the magazine to a state of financial stability. As a result, the business partners resorted to selling it in 1991.
